How I make the most of a slow Saturday to set myself up for an easy week.
I treat Saturdays like a soft reset.
I usually try to enjoy Friday night, but I still like to wake up around 7:30 or 8am on Saturday. It’s not because I’m trying to be a productivity robot, but because it gives me a little peace before the day kicks in. I’ll make breakfast, have some coffee, and take a few minutes to check in with myself and the week ahead.
The first thing I do is outline what needs to get done to get my space and mind back in order. Sometimes that means laundry. Sometimes it means a quick reset of the house so I’m not walking into chaos by Monday. It’s not glamorous, but knocking out those little background tasks gives me the mental bandwidth to actually enjoy my day., whether that means locking in on work or just having space to hang out with people I care about. Once that’s done, I ask myself: what’s this day really for?
Am I heading out to do something fun? Running errands? Getting something off my plate that’s been lingering too long? Or is it one of those Saturdays where I want to sit down and actually get my business life organized?
If it’s the latter, here’s what I usually focus on:
Outlining my Instagram content for the week — I plan Reels, brainstorm carousel ideas, and check what I already have ready to go.
Looking at my upcoming workload — Do I have client orders to fulfill? Are there any freebies I want to finish and release?
Planning around my full-time job — I work as a full-time paralegal during the week, so I need to be real about how much I can take on. It’s a lot to balance a 40-hour in-office job and run a digital business. Saturdays are where I get ahead (even if just a little.)
I don’t hit every goal every weekend. But I show up for myself in a way that sets the tone for the week. That alone makes a difference.
